About / Collodion

People first.
Camera second.

Collodion makes content for impactful companies and organisations, approaching every project through the human element — and how that will resonate with the people you need to reach.

01 / Strategic, on-brand

A deep understanding comes before a shot list.

We deliver strategic, on-brand films by spending the time to understand your organisation properly: how you work, who you are speaking to, and the problems you actually need to solve.

That groundwork is what turns a video into something useful — a story that helps a funder, a community, or a policymaker understand why the work matters, and gives them a reason to act.

02 / How we work

The calm on set is the result of the planning behind it.

Three habits shape every Collodion project.

  1. 01

    Understand before filming

We spend the time to understand your organisation, your audience, and the problem the film has to solve — before a camera comes out of the bag.

  2. 02

Plan so the day can breathe

Everything is planned to perfection so shoot days stay fun and relaxed. People at ease say the truest things, and that is what ends up in the edit.

  3. 03

    Lead with the human element

Every project is approached through the people in it — because that is what makes a story resonate with the audience you need to move.

Allan Melia

Founder & Director

A decade spent making other people’s work understood.

For over ten years Allan has worked closely with organisations, business owners and marketing teams to deliver bespoke films with a focus on the wider benefits to people and the planet.

Alongside this he has worked as Director of Photography on five feature-length documentaries, working with communities across the UK to bring their stories to the big screen. Collodion was set up to take that production and storytelling experience and point it squarely at impactful organisations — helping them make films that connect with new audiences.

A beautiful film is not the point. The action it unlocks is.
